9th Annual Personal Financial Literacy Conference
Date: July 9-10, 2009 Registration Cost: $75 Conference GoalThe Iowa Jump$tart Coalition is dedicated to improving the financial literacy
of students so they are better prepared for real-world financing by the time they
graduate from High School. Statistics have shown that many students leave High
School without this necessary knowledge and end up falling into debt. It is the
goal of the Iowa Jump$tart Conference to give teachers information, materials,
and new ideas for their classes so they can help improve the chance of a student's
future financial success. |

These charts will hopefully bring to light the serious situation we are facing with our Iowa children.
In 2008, a random selection of schools were chosen to give a financial literacy test to their Seniors. These are the results.
![]() | Students are Failing at Financial Literacy This may look like the stock market chart, but the chart on the left shows the scores from the Jump$tart Financial Literacy Surveys of Iowa Students compared to all students tested. The results show that Iowa students average at a failing percentage! It is clear that our students need help! |
![]() | Students score low in Money Management and Savings Getting money and spending it score much better with our kids then saving money. No wonder our kids are going deep in debt right out of high school! There is little money management skill to help them get through the difficult first steps of being on their own. |
